The Upper Cumberland Community Foundation (UCCF), an affiliate of the Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky, is now accepting donations for emergency flood relief efforts in Bell, Clay, Knox, Laurel, and Whitley counties. In the aftermath of the devastating Feb. 2025 flood, the Upper Cumberland community is in desperate need of relief. All donations made to UCCF between Feb. 20 – Apr. 30 will be designated for immediate needs for flood recovery efforts.
“It is so heartbreaking to see our region hit by flooding yet again, especially those who were also impacted in 2021 and 2022. In the face of this disaster, we are reminded that our region is home to the most selfless, resilient people that will always help their neighbors in times of hardship,” says Zack Hall, Community Engagement Officer. “The Upper Cumberland Community Foundation has been there for the community in times of crisis throughout the years, and we are here for our community again. If you are looking for an avenue to provide immediate assistance to provide for critical needs, please consider donating to UCCF. We will get through this disaster like we have in the past, because we have each other.”
The impact of the flood on Appalachian Kentucky is heartbreaking. Fourteen deaths have now been reported. Small businesses, farms, homes, downtowns, and more have sustained significant damage. UCCF is committed to rebuilding and restoring the Upper Cumberland community, but the community foundation relies on support from donors. Donations made to UCCF will be maximized to provide the best possible support for local flood victims.
