People create funds for lots of reasons. The Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky helps you figure out how to give in a way that’s most meaningful for you while making the greatest impact in communities.

Involve your family in philanthropy- you can name children and grandchildren to your fund’s Advisory Committee and provide hands-on experience in charitable giving. | Easy and effective way to meet the Philanthropic Goals for you and your family and leave a legacy for generations. |
Agency Endowment Fund | Nonprofits may create an endowment fund and receive annual grants from the fund while allowing the corpus to grow. | No minimum | May provide donors with access to the Endow Kentucky Tax Credit, a 20% state tax credit available exclusively for gifts to qualified endowments held at qualified Kentucky community foundations. | Enables board members and staff to focus on the organization’s mission and endowment building while the Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky focuses on the investment of the endowment. |
Community Affiliate Fund | A core group of community members establishes an affiliate community foundation to meet the charitable needs of residents of their community. Must be approved for affiliation by the Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky Board of Directors | No minimum | Our supported communities, found here | Funds given to this community stay in this community. A local Board of Advisors ensures that these funds are designated for their highest and best use. |
Scholarship Funds | Fund structured to assist youth and adults wishing to pursue higher education | $25,000 | Students pursuing higher education | Deserving students receive financial assistance and academic recognition. You can make a permanent impact on the lives of recipients, who in turn are likely to continue the tradition of helping others. |
Field of Interest Fund | Fund is directed to support specific areas of need that have meaning to the donors: arts, education, health and human services, animals, etc | $5,000 | You determine the area of charitable interest your field of interest fund will support. The Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky will annually distribute grants from your funds to areas of need in the area of interest you have determined. | You can support the causes you care about today, but also make sure they are taken care of in the years to come. |
Fiscal Sponsorship | Working under the Foundation’s charitable umbrella, a group of people or organization can achieve their charitable mission by soliciting tax-deductible donations, applying for, and making grants, hosting fundraisers, and operating mission driven programs | Must Complete required application and be approved. | This is for groups of people and organizations that are not ready to apply for tax exempt status with the IRS, but are ready to start fundraising, writing grant applications, and implementing their program. | |
