Albany, KY — The Clinton County Community Foundation (CCCF) presented Mayor James Bray with a check for $40,000 to the city of Albany, KY. These funds will enable the city to order a water study to help protect the health and safety of its citizens.
David Cross, CCCF Board Chair, says, “The [Clinton County Community] Foundation was contacted by the city of Albany in the midst of a major water crisis with much of the county without water for several days. The city’s new engineering firm advised that an in-depth study to evaluate the city’s water needs was necessary before any grants or loans could be applied for to address the situation.”
With the money from CCCF’s grant, the city of Albany aims to secure funding for a water study that will pinpoint critical issues in the city’s water system, propose potential solutions, and estimate the necessary funds. This initial assessment will enable the city to apply for funding through various agencies for a large system improvements project. Albany requires improvements to its water system due to significant water loss, deteriorating infrastructure, and a lack of repair plans. Initiating this water study is the primary step in addressing these challenges and ensuring a dependable water supply for Clinton County.
The water study requires a minimum payment of $40,000. CCCF provided these funds to accelerate the process of ordering the study, but the city’s goal is to pay the full amount back as soon as they are able to. “[CCCF’s] actions allowed the study to proceed as a first step in hopefully correcting the city’s multitude of water issues,” David Cross continued.
The Clinton County Community Foundation is an affiliate of the Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky, bringing together community-minded people with the strong, abiding will to do good, acting upon their dreams and aspirations to produce positive results.
