Paul M. Angell Family Foundation Scholarship in Honor of Sharon Davis-Angell
The Sharon Davis-Angell Scholarship Program is a 4-year renewable scholarship program available to graduating seniors from Harlan County and all of Bledsoe, Kentucky. The goal of the scholarship program is to support and empower students from Harlan County and all of Bledsoe, Kentucky to pursue their dreams and one day make a positive impact in their community.
Requirements:
- Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.5
- Applicants must demonstrate financial need
- Applicants must submit an application and resume, as well as prepare an essay that is a minimum of 1 page single spaced answering the following questions:
- Choose one:
- What has life been like for you growing up in Harlan County and/or Bledsoe, Kentucky?
- Why is a college degree important to you?
- Required:
- What have you done to help others during your life?
- What (if any) awards have you received?
- Choose one:
- Applicants will demonstrate drive, hard work, and dedication to their academic and personal growth
- Applicants will have volunteered in the community, whether through church, school groups, or on their own
- Applicants will have a letter of recommendation from the high school principal, teacher, business or community leader
- Applicants will have a strong desire to earn a college degree
- Applicants plan to pursue undergraduate study at Eastern Kentucky University, Union Commonwealth University, or University of Kentucky
Award Amounts: The scholarship will cover 33% of tuition, books, fees, and other expenses for up to 4 years of undergraduate study. The scholarship is renewable each year, as long as the recipient continues to meet the program’s requirements and remains in good academic standing.
