(Pikeville, KY) — The Pikeville Community Foundation recently created the East Kentucky Health Occupation Scholarship to provide scholarship opportunities for Eastern Kentucky students who plan on studying and obtaining health-related degrees. The East Kentucky Health Occupation Scholarship was inspired by three physicians with Eastern Kentucky ties that wanted to give back.
The East Kentucky Health Occupation Scholarship(s) can be awarded to high school seniors or those accepted into a doctoral or master’s health-related program that have graduated from a Pike County high school or Betsy Layne High School. Applicants must be a full-time student with a minimum 2.5 GPA. Scholarship applications opened on November 15, 2023, and will close on January 15, 2024. The scholarship will be awarded in Spring 2024 and paid upon enrollment.
“Investments in education have been important to many of our donors. This scholarship is
particularly special because the inspiration came from three physicians that grew up in eastern Kentucky and now want to bring an educational opportunity back to our region. Our hope is that others will see this giving opportunity and also want to make a difference for our local students,” said Pat McNamee, Pikeville Community Foundation Chair.
