The Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky and its affiliates will be participating in KY Gives Day, an annual day of online giving, on May 7, 2024. On this day, the online event will be active and accepting donations from 12:00 AM to 11:59 PM and each of the Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky’s 11 affiliates will have a particular goal for this fundraising event, targeting a specific need in the counties that they serve.

On May 7, 2024, those wishing to better their community, both now and in the future, can visit https://www.kygives.org/ to make a donation to an affiliate community foundation of their choosing. Simply follow the link, and search the name of the affiliate foundation you want to support. Then, make a tax-deductible donation that will get you on the leaderboard and eligible to win a prize!

Early donations open on May 1st. KY Gives Day is on May 7th, and the donation portal closes on May 8th. Only donations made on May 7th will count towards a chance to win KY Gives Day prizes for the organization that you donated to and a spot on the donation leaderboard!
Give to make a difference in Breathitt County
Donations will go towards establishing the Breathitt County Community Foundation endowment fund.
Give to make a difference in Clinton County
Donations will go towards downtown development efforts in Clinton County.
Give to make a difference in Floyd County
Donations will go towards providing scholarships for disadvantaged Floyd County elementary students to attend 4-H camp this year. FCCF hopes to provide at least 10 scholarships for Floyd County students.

Donations will go towards supporting arts opportunities in Jackson County.

Give to make a difference in Johnson County
Donations will go towards supporting arts opportunities in Johnson County. The Johnson County Community Foundation board is working diligently to support programs that offer low-cost educational and artistic experiences throughout the county. With additional donations and resources, the JoCCF board hopes to increase access and opportunities in the schools, for the artists, and the audiences, and to encourage the growth of the Johnson County community’s creative and cultural sectors.
Goal: $2,500
Give to make a difference in Knott County
Donations will go towards building the Knott County Community Foundation endowment fund. KCCF focuses much of its efforts on flood relief. This affiliate recently held a benefit concert in which a portion of donations went to school groups at Knott Central and the Long Term Recovery Group.
Give to make a difference in Leslie County
Donations will go towards supporting economic growth in the community.
Give to make a difference in Letcher County
Donations will go towards building a monument memorializing Native Americans and the trail of tears near US 23 at the Kentucky/Virginia state line. The monument will be in the shape of a tear drop, honoring the role that Native Americans played in the birth of our nation.

Donations will go towards kickstarting the Hazard Perry County Boys and Girls Club.

Give to make a difference in Pikeville and Pike County
Donations will go towards the Pikeville Community Foundation’s efforts to relieve food insecurity issues in Pike County. Over the last four years, PCF has awarded over $140,000 to nonprofit organizations providing food security programs to help alleviate hunger in Pike County – especially programs identifying youth and children. Research by Feeding America shows that one in seven youth in Kentucky face hunger. Kentucky’s food insecurity rate is higher than the national average, and since the COVID-19 pandemic, Feeding America estimates food insecurity has gone up by 40% in Kentucky. The PCF board knows that it is crucial to address this issue and work towards ensuring that everyone has access to nutritious food.

Give to make a difference in Estill, Lee, Menifee, Powell, and Wolfe Counties
Donations will go towards establishing the Red River Gorge Community Foundation endowment fund.
Give to make a difference in Bell, Clay, Knox, Laurel, and Whitley Counties
Donations will go towards funding for a Civic Fellowship program in the Bell, Clay, Knox, Laurel, and Whitley region.
