The Johnson County Community Foundation is spreading holiday cheer this season. The new community foundation made six donations totaling $9,000 last week to nonprofits for charitable causes. Grants of $1,500 each were made to Christmas for Kids, Highland Church of Christ, 12 Basket Food Pantry, First Baptist Church, Mayo Methodist – Encounter Missions, and Hands & Feet Ministry.
“As a new community foundation, it is critical to our Board that we support the issues that our local community cares most deeply about,” said Daffiny Trimble, Johnson County Community Foundation Chair. “We want to do our part to make sure our neighbors are fed and warm this holiday season.
The Johnson County Community Foundation Board is made up of local community members and includes Daffiny Trimble (Chair), Jerry Price (Vice-Chair), Connie Bayes (Treasurer), Tammy Barker (Secretary), Dewey Bocook, Doug Pugh, and Chris Slone.
As the community foundation enters into 2023, they will be developing their strategic plan to ensure that they are supporting the needs that Johnson County cares about most.
“These donations are just a first step,” said Trimble. “We look forward to being more targeted and strategic in the future, always here to listen to and act on what will continue to make Johnson County a thriving community where we love to live and work.”
The Johnson County Community Foundation is an affiliate of the Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky. Local focus is the driving force of the Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky, and the affiliate community foundation network is an extension of that.
